Yeah, 99% of the online gaming community is a bunch of 13 year old kids that shouldn't even have a rated M game in the first place. Parents used to use television as a babysitter. Now with the adaptation of online gaming, they have evolved past television and have migrated to online gaming. When little kids on Xbox live start saying racist or moronic things, it usually means that the parents are not home. Giving them the free will to say and do what they want. Lucky for me, I have a close group of friends that I have known for years that I always play with online. When we find these kinds of kids, we just make fun of them. Instead of getting upset from a trash talking 13 year old, we instead get a really good laugh and have even more fun than we would have without them. And if that fails, there's two other options. Taking your microphone out, or using the greatest feature ever; Mute.
If you want to get the best out of an online gaming experience, you should join a gaming clan. Make sure they have an age limit (preferably no one under 16) and good admins.
Online gaming is much better when you know for sure that the people your playing with aren't complete a-holes.
I'd suggest an MMO for any online play, and keep multiplayer games limted to micless games or lan games. either that or get off xbox. what you mentioned was another reason I chose a ps3 over a 360. I know the playerbase. I also only ever play online on my ps3 on any unrated rooms, as rated rooms almost always have people screaming.
as for an MMO, I'm addicted to it, so I must say WoW, I'm typing this as I am in a flight right now XD and voice chat is limited to wether you want to use the horrible one they have, or save it for when you get in a guild and use Vent.
Nintendo did 1 thing correctly for online play. no chat of any sort. sure that seems bad, but it helps people focus on skill of play than skill of words.

Ouch, man, When all my friends I got when I had Xbox live gold, or friends that are like frikkin Hardcore shooter fans. Are like GET GOLD, and I tell them no, all I get is. "Why?" I have no explanation other than, its just a bunch of random douches yelling into their mikes. Swearing and cursing and blaming their Inadequacies on stuff like H4x or L444444GGG, especially in halo where your own teammates kill you for the sniper, and turn out to suck with it. I have lost contact with my only friend that actually cares for games other than shooters >.<. Well, I guess I'll have fun Trying to get better at Counter strike right now, Sorry for the W4LL OF T3XT! (I am tired, very much so.)
With Stories like this it makes me glad im a PC user only. Although admittedly playing online on PC isn't really much better. Replace the words 'N***a' and 'Fagget' with 'Dickhead' and 'Wanker' and have them said about 2 times less per minute and you have a pretty good idea of what its like trying to play online in europe. :(

I agree with you on the whole xbox live community... It's pretty fucking dire, which is why i ALWAYS play with a friend and have them in chat so that i can't hear the rest of the animals. Xbox live is undoubtedly the best console online service out there, but it definitely has the shittest community.

Lots of people say they've had bad experiences but I dont think I've every had 1 if any1 calls HAXXXXXX!!!!!11!!! i just lol and say no it's just that the dick in your mouth is distracting you(lol). Onlines only as good as the people you play it with FACT. I'm going to be flamed for this but PC gaming instantly removes some of gamings biggest idiots since you generally need to know more to actually even enter a game. I could also list off a bunch of games with the biggest amount of dumbasses but that would be flame baiting XP
Good to hear that your enjoying your job. I hate people like that on Xbox, and for some reason Gears attracts all the dickholes. I'm gonna say this (and it's not 'coz I'm rascist) the majority of the people who spoil the online gaming are Americans. Ive got no beef with them, I even have a few on my friends list, but they get uppity and cocky. Add me to your friends list man, (it's Chymo) I'm chilled about playing games, I generally just go in with mates, for a good laugh.

I almost always play single player games, so I have not had any experience with the annoying online community that I hear so many people complain about. I guess that I can consider myself lucky!
I just recently got Xboxlive back, and i can just say that i don't really have the same problems that you do... most of the time. There was this guy once, who trash talked in the Halo 3 lobby before a match, and when i tried too say something he turned on me and said things like: "I'm gonna kill your dad, with your permission i'm gonna kill your dad". so how did i solve the problem? I ganked him, for the entire match i killed him again and again and again, and he didn't kill me once.
And then there was this other guy who clearly sucked (couldn't make out how old he was since teenagers in English speaking countries(especially USA) seems too have a very, very, very high pitch in their voices when compared too my own) he got like two kills in one match and none in another, and all the time he was talking, just talking, there was no end too his talking, in the end the only thing i could do was too turn down the volume on my earphones to end the my suffering. Although i haven't had many problems with stuff that like that lately because i have been too busy playing Castle crashers with my friends.
Also my Gamertag is Arankor if anybody wondered...
I was playing GTA race and one of the guys, he sounded indian, the whole time he was singing this song he had made up about the airport. It was hilarious.
Which is why I only play games like halo 3 and gears with one or two friends. I can usually just go into private chat if im playing with a single bud.
But if thats not the case, just mute them. Or just leave your mic off ( but on the setting that lets you still here others voices of course) and turn it on when need be.
And besides, if you really have an annoying kid in the lobby, and most of the people in the lobby dont like him, just tell him to shutup and chances are that others will join in on telling him to shutup, which is when hilarity ensues.
But dont tell the people that aren't doing anything to shutup, cause thats just retarded.

ja,playing online is like going to an anime convention. You sure want to get some not-related-to-get-drunk fun,and maybe to check out some novelties and pretty chiks, but most of the time you find yourself with 14 year-old cunts talking 'bout Naruto,Inuyasha,Death note, and fat people cosplaying,I dunno...Sasuke, and thin guys trying to be darth vader or homer simpson, while your eyes suffer the "otaku sighting trauma". And I always go to conventions lured by the false promises of fun.
And after....I have to rely on drunk fun.At least Captain Jack Daniels hear me.
So my point is, you will get desilusionated most of the playing online times,so dont argue: when playing online, always carry booze.
